Start With a Load Plan, Not a Shopping Cart
Emergency gear works only when the generator has enough capacity for the connected loads. Before buying cords, fuel cans, or adapters, write down the appliances and tools you intend to power. A generator that has not been serviced is a gamble. Keep the correct engine oil on hand, along with a funnel, drain pan, clean rags, and the tools required for routine checks.
